Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is a bone disorder that mainly makes the bones fragile. This is caused by a change in gene or a mutation. OI is a lifelong disease. There are 15 types of OI. Many people that have OI don't fit into only one specific catagory. According to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, some of the symptoms of OI include bone deformity, bone pain, loose joints, ligament laxity (when joints are loose) and muscle weakness. People with OI can have frequent broken bones from infancy to puberty. This means that Osteogenesis Imperfecta can have a massive impact on a person's life.
